Hello ,
My name is Alaina Caruso. I am from Boston, Massachusetts. I first came to Korea in 2009 to teach after graduating Cum Lade with a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of New Hampshire. Since then I have taught English as Second Language in schools both in Korea and several other countries as well as the United States. I have taught all levels of English to students varying in age from very young to adult business and university students. Working with various students from all over the world and from every walk of life helped me to discover my passion and love of teaching. I hope to bring this passion and enthusiasm to my students at Knk. After discovering my passion for ESL I returned to the United States and completed my Master's Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at the University of Southern California where I graduated as a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.I returned to Korea in 2015 and I am now entering my second year as a teacher at Knk, where I teach Science and Social Studies
I enjoy working with the students at Knk and helping them to develop both their content knowledge in science and social studies as well as their English Language abilities. The integrated North American curriculum at Knk allows students to grow as students and English speakers. In my classroom I strive to teach students in communicative environment as well as incorporating project based learning to give students the opportunity to naturaly develop their English language skills. I strive to make my lesson dynamic and interesting for my students so that they will enjoy learning.
Since arriving at Knk in the winter of 2015 I have been impressed with the high level abilities of the students. The fact that many students stay at Knk throughout their elementary and middle school years as well as small class sizes helps to give Knk a community feels. Also it is a pleasure to be able to see the students improve as the progress through the various levels .The combination of small class sizes, students, and dynamic staff make Knk a great place to be.
